Minors in Education Studies

Introduction

 

If you have ever considered becoming a teacher, now is the perfect time to explore the teaching and learning experience. Education Studies now offers three minor programs of Study that will put you on the right path to a rewarding career: Minor in Mathematics Education, Minor in Science Education, and Minor in Education Studies. The courses in the minor programs, and the hands-on experiences you will gain in local schools will provide you with important preparation to become an intern teacher if you enroll in a credential program after you complete your bachelor's degree.

Undergraduate students from any major or college are eligible for the Minor in Education Studies. Students who are planning to apply to the UCSD M.Ed./Credential Program should take the courses that satisfy the educational foundations requirements and the minor requirements simultaneously. Ask an EDS adviser if you have questions. The minor consists of a minimum of 28 units and must include at least one course from category A below and at least one course from 2 of the remaining categories B,C,D. Grades of C- or better are required for the minor, but if you plan to apply to the EDS credential program note that grades of B or better are required in the EDS courses.

Education Studies: Minor Declaration Instructions

1. Go to TritonLink.

2. Click "Major and Minor".

3. Login with username and password.

4. Click "Add Minor".

5. Select Minor Code:

         M065- General EDS Minor (Single subject/Multiple subject Minors)

         M066- Math Education Minor

         M067- Science Education Minor

6. List courses:

Lower Division- Please list all lower division courses. If you do not have any lower division courses place an ÒXÓ in all the boxes of 1 line and put 1.00 unit, pass/fail.

7. Submit, then add minor.

8. Lea Marzo, Minor Advisor, will either approve of deny your minor. If there are any corrections you will receive an email asking you to make the corrections and re-submit your minor. If no corrections are needed, your minor will be approved.
